Over spring break, MDes students took some much-needed time to rest, relax, and explore. One group headed up to Napa for wine tasting and stargazing at their vineyard AirBnB. Another group of MDes students who stayed in the Bay for their break had a bonfire on the beaches of San Francisco.

Two MDes students’ papers, done in collaboration with EECS students, “WebTransceiVR – Asymmetric VR Collaboration At Scale “and “Generative VR: Spatial Interactions in Virtual Reality to Guide Generative Design “ have been accepted by the ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems premier international conference of Human-Computer Interaction HCI.

Each semester, MDes students get the opportunity to learn from and interact with various invited guest speakers and mentors. This spring, Design Frameworks and Capstone Studio have a great line-up of guests with backgrounds ranging from critical theory to robotic fabrication to XR technologies to strategic foresight….

Congratulations to Xingtai Huang and Mercedes Saldana, whose team DermScan won 1st place in the 2022 iHackHealth Appathon. iHackHealth Appathon is hosted by UC Berkeley’s Fung Institute and UCSF, and focuses on addressing pressing needs in the healthcare field.
