Bio

Hello, I’m Skye F.

I’m a physical product designer with a background in human-centered design, urban planning, and interior design. Because of this work in design thinking and professional experience with clients, the cornerstones of my ethos are accessibility, usability, respect, and honest reflection. I focus on the user experience to focus where a project’s iterations lead.

Despite being originally South African, I grew up mostly in the U.A.E. and been state side since 2017. I utilize my multicultural background, health challenges, and other various life experiences to inform my design decisions and draw inspiration from. I love celebrating the unique aspects of humanity, our place in the environment, and building upon our roots to make what will serve us in the future.

I’m excited to take this opportunity at Berkeley to develop my robotics knowledge, build on my fabrication abilities, and explore emerging areas such as biomimicry. My ultimate goal is reducing the gap between amazing research and the people it could benefit through innovative design. To build upon the amazing work of others to bring larger impacts to everyday life. I’m excited to be joining the MDES program and being a part of this inspiring community of designers.
