MDes Career Pathways & Alumni Panel @UCB Grad Div Fair

Come learn about potential career pathways and the myriad of professional development opportunities and resources available to MDes students, and hear from a diverse panel of MDes students on how you can drive meaningful change through design and technology. This event is part of the Graduate Diversity Admissions Fair, which is uniquely designed for underrepresented minority students considering graduate school at Berkeley, though it is open to all prospective students.

Inside the MDes: What You’ll Actually Learn

This webinar will focus on the academic experience of Berkeley MDes students. Faculty Director, Kyle Steinfeld, will present a curricular overview and then we will speak with a panel of current MDes students about what they’re learning in the program.

MDes Admissions Class Visit: Design Frameworks

Get a sneak peek of a MDes class the day before MDes Admissions Visit Day. You can observe the first semester course Design Frameworks on the history of design and technology. Attend the whole class in-person OR watch the lecture via Zoom from 4:45-5:45pm.

MDes Admissions Visit Day

Come experience UC Berkeley’s Master of Design (MDes) program in action! Get a tour of our state-of-the-art Makerspace and MDes Studio from 1-2pm; attend an MDes Faculty Salon on design practice from 2-3 PM (snacks served!); then from 3-5pm sit in on one of the required MDes courses on Technology Design Foundations; and end the day with a social with current MDes students. Attend whichever part you can!

Join us in Jacobs Hall to see examples of our first-year MDes students’ work from their first semester at the Jacobs Design Showcase. This is an ideal time to talk to currents students about their work and the MDes curriculum.

Graduate Thesis Exhibition

Experience the culminating work of the students in the graduating MDes2026 cohort. The Graduate Exhibition offers a firsthand look at the remarkable projects by our students as part of their capstone degree requirements, providing valuable insights into the transformative experiences and outcomes that you can achieve through the MDes.
