Back to Campus Events at Jacobs Hall

With the beginning of the fall semester and our return to campus just around the corner, we encourage you to join one of the many events the Jacobs Institute is hosting in the upcoming weeks. These events include Makerspace tours and campus crawls, as well as design resources and opportunities info sessions. Some events will be facilitated remotely, while many are in person. Please note: current campus safety guidelines will be enforced for all in-person events.

Design Opportunities Fair
Friday, 8/27/21 • 11 AM–3 PM
Location: 310 Jacobs

Whether you’re a designer or just curious, come meet design-related clubs, decals, and organizations at this student-run event! The Design Fair will be hybrid this year with an in-person fair and video presentations for all attending clubs.

Register here by 08/12 if you’re a club or decal interested in participating as a presenter.

Jacobs Makerspace Open House
Friday, 9/3/21 • 3–5 PM
Location: First Floor Makerspace, Jacobs Hall

Meet the Makerspace staff and other members of the Jacobs community at our Makerspace open house. We will have equipment demos, raffles, project displays, building tours, and more. All are welcome to see what happens at Jacobs, regardless of major affiliation or experience level!

Arts + Design at Berkeley: Building Your Creative Community

The Jacobs Institute will join presenters from other campus units as they share about how to get involved in the arts, design, and creative communities at UC Berkeley.

Campus Makers’ Crawl
Friday, 9/10/21 • 2–4 PM
Location: The event will begin at the west lobby entrance of Jacobs Hall

If you are interested in joining the vibrant community of makers, designers, and tinkerers at UC Berkeley, then join us on the campus makers’ crawl! We will start at the Jacobs Hall Makerspace and continue to other campus spaces. See the unique resources offered at each location and learn how you can join the campus’s rich ecosystem of hands-on creativity. Bring your curiosity and comfortable walking shoes.

We will be visiting (in order): Jacobs Makerspace, Mechanical Engineering Student Machine Shop, Cory Student Workshop, Supernode, CITRIS Invention Lab, Moffit Makerspace, Berkeley Art Studio, and the College of Environmental Design’s Fabrication Lab.
