Mastercard Foundation Scholar Program

Students accepted to the Master of Design program are eligible to apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholar program, a program that provides support to master’s degree students from Sub-Saharan African countries who are academically talented and committed to transformative change on the continent. At UC Berkeley, the Mastercard Foundation as supported over 120 students from 2012 to 2020 and is now embarking on a ten-year partnership with the University.
The Program will recruit widely across Sub-Saharan Africa and will encourage applications particularly from women, people with disabilities, and those who are refugees or displaced. To be considered for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, master’s degree seekers from Sub-Saharan Africa must first apply to the graduate program (MDes) through the regular admissions process. After you apply for admission, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program will invite you to apply for the Scholarship, if you meet eligibility requirements.
