Bio
Hi, I’m Alistair; an engineer with a background in prototyping and equipment troubleshooting. I received a degree in mechanical engineering from UC San Diego in 2021, and continued to work at the same university until the summer of 2025. In that time I was involved in breaking wave sensor design at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and later I came onboard as an equipment engineer at the Nano3 cleanroom facility where I was responsible for the maintenance and repair of highly sophisticated micro- and nano-fabrication equipment, with a focus on deposition systems and plasma etchers.
Throughout my experiences, I have enjoyed finding unique hardware and mechanical solutions to complex design challenges, with an emphasis on efficiency and function wherever possible. I am excited both to bring my technical skills to bear, and to develop new design skills as a member of the MDes cohort.
