Hengjia (Amy) Zhang

Bio

Hi!

I am Hengjia Zhang, you can also just call me Amy! I am an interdisciplinary artist and designer working at the intersection of interactive installations, wearable technology, and digital fabrication. I recently earned my undergraduate degree in Fine Arts with a minor in Information Science from Cornell University, where I explored how technology can evoke emotional and sensory connections through human-centered design. My practice blends my artistic backgrounds with technical exploration,interested in digital fabrication, soft robotic wearables, and interactivity. From prototyping on-skin interfaces in a research lab to designing user experiences in industry settings, I wish to be creative, innovative and emotionally resonating.
At MDes, I am excited to further the interdisciplinary practices by expanding material and technological vocabularies, collaborating with peers across disciplines, and continue creating work that challenges the boundaries between the digital and the physical, the functional and the expressive.
