Bio
Nassirah Nelson is an engineer, designer, and STEM educator whose work is at the intersection of creativity, technology, and social impact.
She is the founder of EmpowerED STEM, a mobile makerspace and learning lab that offers immersive workshops in digital fabrication, coding, and microcontroller technologies. She is also the founder of Sample Mode, a Berkeley Changemaker® course that uses beat-making and MIDI Controller design to teach design thinking, 3D printing, and microcontroller programming.
Nassirah was selected as an Arcus Social Justice Fellow in recognition of her commitment to using design as a tool to advance access, and community-driven innovation. She aims to create spaces where everyone feels welcome to build and contribute.
