Bio
Hello, I’m Tomas. I arrived in the MDes program following an academic career in history, a professional career in technology, and continued education in design and engineering. Prior to joining the program, I held the role of vice president of technology and digital at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), where I had the opportunity to apply my historical understanding of technology and media to consider how we might connect and inspire audiences through the communication and contextualization of primary sources. This experience provided me with unique access to analyze and interpret the impact of technology in a real-world environment alongside an inspirational lineup of creators and curators.
As a designer, I seek to leverage this cross-disciplinary background to examine parallels of the past, consider and communicate the context of the present, and imagine implications for the future.
Outside of design and technology, my favorite things include dogs, neon, tinkering, extraterrestrial conspiracies, christmas, and things that glow in the dark.
What are you most looking forward to in the MDes program?
Stepping back from the professional world to examine how I can maximize my role as a conscious creator through the thoughtful layering of design, technology and social impact.
