Veruska Oropeza

Bio

Hi! I’m Veruska, a product designer with a background in software engineering and 18 years of experience building digital products, most recently as the Founding Product Designer at an AI startup in San Francisco. I’m joining Berkeley’s MDes to explore design beyond the screen, Human-AI Interaction, and imagine new ways people might experience intelligent systems.

I’m fascinated by the intersection of design, technology, materials, and human behavior. At Berkeley, I’m especially excited to explore how soft materials, physical computing, sensing, and AI can create technology that feels approachable, emotionally supportive, and beautiful.

Originally from Venezuela, I’ve seen how design and technology can either widen or narrow opportunities. That perspective continues to shape the kinds of problems I’m most interested in exploring.

I love technology, but I’m also nostalgic for the parts of life it shouldn’t replace. That’s what draws me to creating experiences that enrich our lives while preserving what makes us human.
