Vicky Yan

Bio

Hi! This is Vicky. I was born in China and grew up in the beautiful city of Vancouver, Canada. I graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s in Architecture and a minor in Mathematics.

My adventure takes me from professional architectural design in large-scale infrastructure to hands-on building and furniture design in the woodshop, and eventually to designing tangible ideation-generating projects. I’m a generalist whose workspace can jump from Grasshopper one day to various LLMs on another. These experiences have taught me the power of good storytelling and a design method that serves user experiences and moments.

At MDes, I’m excited to explore design methods that not only solve day-to-day struggles but also inspire people to live life without distractions or worries. Design that brings convenience, efficiency and joy marks my philosophy.

You can catch me in theatres on a discounted movie night or at the weekend badminton drop-ins. I love music and also enjoy a good afternoon with books, puzzles or oil painting.
