Growing up in South Korea, I have always been passionate about designing and making something with my own hands.
After graduating from Seoul National University with Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering major, I have been working in the fields of interactive installation media art, interactive contents for kids, and robotic sculptures for exhibition.
Working as a mechanical designer, not only I designed things but I also did most of the prototyping process myself. Seeing something I designed be given physical form and come to life was a pleasure, and doing the process with my own hands was even more exciting.
Decided to join MDes because I truly believe that creativity is encouraged by cutting across the border of different disciplines, which is what I realized through 7+ years of career experience in interdisciplinary field.
In the future I hope to help those who have the same passion as mine, and furthermore, inspire people without engineering background to engage in making things on their own.
What are you most looking forward to in the MDes program?
I look forward to collaborating with peers from different backgrounds and make things happen. Other than that I’m not sure what’s gonna happen and I think that’s the cool part!
