Hi there! I’m Xiaofan 😀
I’m a UX researcher and designer interested in how emerging technologies shape the way people communicate, collaborate, and make sense of information.
With an academic background in journalism and communication across my undergraduate and graduate studies, I have long been drawn to how media, narratives, and social contexts influence human understanding and behavior. This background shapes the way I approach design: I see technology as a medium that carries meaning, relationships, and values.
During my internship at Tsinghua Future Lab, I have worked on projects related to AI-supported communication, collaborative tools, and immersive VR experiences for older adults. These projects have shaped my current focus on human-computer interaction and AI-mediated communication, where I explore how intelligent systems can support knowledge sharing, perspective clarification, and more humane digital experiences.
As I continue my journey at UC Berkeley MDes, I hope to keep exploring human-centered innovation in an age of emerging technologies, creating experiences that make complex systems more understandable and grounded in real human needs.
