MDes2023

Zeping Fei (Phyllis)

Bio

I’m a researcher and creative technologist who is passionate about creating inclusive and empathetic experiences with emerging technologies. In my interdisciplinary study in Interactive Media Arts and my post-graduate fellowship in NYU, I’ve explored physical computing, the internet of things, motion capture, web design and development, UX design, data visualization, etc. Some of my works were exhibited in Media Architecture Biennale 20 (the Netherland/online), FutureLab (Shanghai), Imagine Science Festival (Abu Dhabi), Tashkeel: Play (Dubai), and Processing Community Day (Shanghai). My current research on designing human interface devices (HID) for assistive technology looks into the possibility of enhanced human-computer interaction for people with mobility impairment. I value the process of working with people on real problems, where I get to face the challenges, unbox the unknown, and grow.

What are you most looking forward to in the MDes program?

I am most looking forward to building close connections with the MDes cohort and faculties in and beyond the classroom. Can’t wait to explore the unknown together with many curious minds!
