Bio

My name is Sara. I graduated from Northwestern in 2020 where I majored in Mechanical Engineering and minored in Computer Science. I particularly focused on human centered product design while there, pursuing projects mainly in the space of healthcare, assistive technology, and accessibility. I did this both through classes as well as being a part of Design For America and Engineering World Health.

Most of my work experience has been in mechanical engineering but in the last year I have been learning more about digital based design like graphic, web, and app design and I hope to explore those fields further in the future.

I enjoy hiking, crocheting, watching cartoons, and drinking tea. I grew up in the bay area and am very excited to be back home in California and to continue my education at Berkeley. I look forward to meeting everyone, getting to know the cohort, and learning from the diverse experiences of everyone in MDes.

What are you most looking forward to in the MDes program?

I am most looking forward to being exposed to the different experiences and perspectives of the other students and faculty in the program. Design is such a collaborative process and I am excited to work together and learn from such an interesting group of people while also being exposed to innovative technologies and design methods.
